Terryland Park is
a multi-use stadium in Galway, Ireland,
owned by the
Galway
& District Football League. It is
currently used for association football matches and has been the home
ground of Galway United since 1977. The stadium has also hosted
international underage games. It hosts approximately 80 games over the
course of each year, with between 25 to 30 of these fixtures
affiliated to Galway United. The majority of the remaining games are
junior soccer fixtures. Terryland Park underwent redevelopment in 1993
and as a result Galway United played in Crowley Park, the home of
rugby side Galwegians, for one season. The stadium received a 500,000
grant from the Irish Government in 2006, the money going towards
further development works, chief of which was the building of a new
1,500-seater stand. This was opened in July
2007 and raised Terryland Park's seated capacity to 2,900 and overall
capacity from 3,500 to 5,000. Work continues and it is planned that
the new stand will include a shop unit, turnstiles, medical
examination and first-aid rooms, toilets, showers, dressing-rooms, a
match delegates' room, officials' dressing-room, a new media and
reception room, a canteen with facilities for press conference, and a
TV studio. A camera platform has added to the old stand and the
floodlights have been relocated.
