Do not force an unwilling child to participate in sport.
Remember, children take part in sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
Encourage your child to always play by the rules.
Teach your child that honest effort is as
important as victory so that
the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
Turn defeat into victory by helping your
child towards skill improvement
and good sportsmanship.
Never ridicule or shout at your child for making a mistake or losing a game.
Remember that children learn best by example.
Applaud good play by BOTH your team and the other side.
Do not publicly question the Referee's
judgment, without their help
there would be no game.
Support all the efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from children's sport.
Recognise the value and importance of
volunteer coaches. They give up their
time and resources to provide recreational activities for your child.
But most of all - ENJOY IT!
Players Code
Play for the fun of it, not just to please your parents or coach.
Play by the rules.
Never argue with the referee's decision.
Control your temper.
Work equally hard for yourself and your
team. A team all working together will
always beat a team of individuals.
Be a good sport. Appreciate and applaud good play even if it is by the other side.
Support and encourage other players. Helping them improve will help you too.
Remember that the aim is to have fun,
improve your skills and feel good.
Don't be a show-off.
Listen to your coaches, they are trying to help you.
To win you first need to learn how to
handle losing. Why were they better?
What should you and your team mates do differently next time?
But most of all - ENJOY IT!
